Shoyu Vapors
APRIL 5, 2021 #3

When it comes to beauty,
say what you want about the
Japanese but they may lead
the way in not only preserving
the elegance and aesthetics
of their history/culture, they
set a pretty high bar when
it comes to keeping their
waters/beaches pristine/
crystalline and using alterna-
tive energy to fossil fuels.
KABUKI theater has been around
since the 17th Century and is a
gorgeous aesthetic pageantry of
precision and cultural drama.
Though American in origin,
THE MIKADO is hilarious & fun
and been in production for
125 years! 美しくあなた自身

They don't just 'fly' by gliding on patagium...they fluoresce PINK!
OK...I'm officially JELLY of ROCKY! It's fascinating how there weren't many
--if any-- Saturday Cartoons about SPACE and really not a lot of characters who
could FLY! Of the super-powers flight is in my top 3 behind breathing under water
and invisibility. Call me a SNOOP but I people-watch a lot. Fascinating pasttime.

When he first débuted in Action Comics #1
way back in 1938, Superman couldn't fly at all!
That leaves me with UNDERDOG who I love and
watch most weekends (I own the DVDs) 'cause he's
sweet and unassuming and although he's a bit
of a klutz like me and probably can't dance...
he still shows up with his dancing shoes and
cuts a rug. Most of the cartoon birds rarely fly
and have more hands than wings. Weird!
So with little extra-terrestrial activity happening in
TOONTOWN, I'll be following up on ROCKY and U-DOG
with LOST IN SPACE which I also own DVDs for and
D loved. I wasn't with him when he got excited by and
watched the MOVIE a couple dozen times but when I
finally watched it with him I'd already gotten hooked
on the original series. (Too bad they screwed up what
was a promising first few episodes of the NETFLIX
kybosh). Still watching the FAMILY ROBINSON finding
ways to survive without a home, reminded how lucky
we all are to have one. Maybe we should stop killing it.
Is it wrong for me to wanna get lost in PENNY'S space?
God I'm such a slut! She was absolutely gorgeous!

Unfortunately, what is my FAV CARTOON (also a space-theme/motif)
has only been birthed and has limited episodes! Sigh. What I would give
for 200 episodes of FINAL SPACE to watch! So everytime I get a JONES for it
I watch the adorable JETSONS! Astro is a HILARIOUS space- SCOOBY
and the stories are charming, the futuristic portrayal of the insanely-lazy
lifestyle where technology has replaced every human effort is frighteningly
accurate/foreshadowing. But everyone should be morbidly-obese! HAHAHA
Like UNDERDOG and LOST IN SPACE I love the theme songs.
They're a tragic reminder not only of the magic of themes that's almost
non-existent, but also the charm and sweetness they reflected in a world
we've now utterly abandoned. We've been Lost In....something for a
long time now! Still terrestrial, but lost. SIGH!

THE POWERS OF MATTHEW STAR is still earthbound and not really a toon
or even a morning show but I'm about halfway through the episodes and
enjoying it quite a bit even if his 'powers' don't include flying. So I watch
SHAZAM! which is unique because one guy transforms into another guy
and he flies! The show had great moral lessons for kids and a sweet
goodness I LOVE! Before he died, hubby got to laugh his ass off at his
beloved "CHUCK" (who couldn't fly but was a sweet, ironic hero) become
a kid in a grown man's body and save his family and earth from evil.
Sadly there'll be no sequel but the 70s show lives on with YOUTUBE!
GOMER PYLE said 'Shazam!' He couldn't fly but he's awfully sweet!!
