Clearly, there've been tremendous books written just

over the last 50 years alone that people gravitate to.

For myself, I have to name at least two books I loved as a

teenager even though they weren't necessarily written for

adults or intended to be the great american novel. But if I

have to avoid books wirtten by my (most) significant other

who I consider to easily be the best writer I've ever seen by

far (and no it's not solely bias), that leaves me with the

unavoidable act of naming material that everyone knows

to be some of the best reads ever written. However, most

people also know that most best-sellers are written at a

9th-10th grade level so you won't be seeing any of

that nonsense on my list.
